Jean Caron

Caron, Jean G. Jean Gerard Caron of New Haven died December 11th at the Hospital of St. Raphael. He is survived by his dear wife of 62 years, Christine Caron, and his twin sister Jeanne Albright of Plano, Texas. Jean was born in Tauton MA. on 3/28/1924 the son of Jean Baptiste Caron and Roseana Bernier. He was a WWII Veteran who served with distinction for several years on the carrier U.S.S. Cowpens during the Pacific War. He spent his working career of over 40 years at the New Haven, New York, and Hartford Railroad, where his father had worked, and its successor rail companies. He was a member of Brotherhood of Railway Employees. Jean was known as a gentleman for his kindness, for his smile, and in particular for a rapport with children- "Daddy Jean". He was someone who took delight in life, and had a curiosity that spanned many hobbies-from computers and gardening, to tropical fish and photography. Ever ready to help, or to join in play, he is also survived by his three sons, Denis Caron and his wife Lisa of Middletown CT, Daniel Caron and his wife Esther of Hyannis, MA and Paul Caron and his partner, Vickie Greenhouse of Bristol, VT; as well as his grandchildren, Arielle, Elyse & David Caron, and his great grandchild, Tovah Caron. Jean also known fondly as "Jerry" was predeceased by his sisters, Valeda Judd, Elaine Durkin, and Evelyn Januse. He will be missed and appreciated. Funeral services Friday 10:30 A.M. from the Peter H. Torello & Son F.H., 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden and 11 A.M. at St. Rita's Church, Hamden with a private burial. Friends may call Friday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 A.M.
