John Borack Sr.

BORACK, JOHN A., SR. John A. Borack Sr., 58, of Shagbark Drive, Derby, passed away March 18, 2014, in Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale–New Haven. He was the beloved husband of Angela Garufi Borack. Mr. Borack was born in Bridgeport on Nov. 4, 1955, son of the late Joseph J. and Anna Szymborski Borack. He was a mechanic in the repair shop at Connecticut DOT for 28 years prior to his retirement in 2003. He was Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 571 in Derby, and more recently a member of Milford Elks Lodge 1589, where he was active in community activities. He was very active in assisting with the Golf Classic and Summer Carnival at St. Therese Church in North Haven. He enjoyed boating, cooking, vacations in St. Maarten, going to the casino and visiting with his friends at Olympic Donuts in Milford. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, John A. Borack Jr., of Butler, Indiana; two daughters, Marie (Dan) Murphy of Auburn, Indiana, and Christine (Steve) Anderson of Waterloo, Indiana; a stepson, Joseph West of Spencerville, Indiana; a brother, Joseph J. Borack Sr. of North Haven; a sister, Ann Bonci (Silvano Ferreira) of Milford; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Josephine Wheaton, Rose & Frank Pepe and Jean Garufi; nine grandchildren: Marissa, Madeline, Taylor, Morgan, Khloe, Anthony, Alexis, Hunter and Dylian; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Molly. He is also survived by close friends Patty & Michael Aceto and their family, and many friends from Bigelow Tea. John’s family would like to thank Dr. Richard Formica and his Transplant Team, Dr. William Ash, Dr. Zain Husain, Dr. Hari Desphande, Dr. Clarence Sasaki, Dr. Stephen Huot and his team, the Pulmonary Team, the nurses on 4–6 and the 10th floor at Smilow.
