Joseph Liguori

LIGUORI, JOSEPH S. Joseph S. Liguori, 98, of Woodbridge passed away Oct. 6, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Julia A.Giordano Liguori. Mr. Liguori was born April 6, 1914, son of the late Salvatore and Maria Evangelist Liguori. He was raised in Fair Haven, attended Lovell School, Fair Haven Junior High, Hillhouse High School and Boardman Trade School. He worked at the old Grove St. Garage near the New Haven Arena and later established Woodbridge Auto Service on Amity Road in Woodbridge which he operated for over 30 years. During World War II, he assisted in the war effort by working at Winchester Repeating Arms. He was a 63 year resident of Woodbridge and a faithful member of Our Lady of Assumption Mother Church. He was a member of Hamden Elks Lodge No. 2224; Trinity Council, Knights of Columbus in Woodbridge and Commodore John Barry Assembly No. 97, Knights of Columbus. He is survived by two daughters, Dolores (James) Esparo of North Haven and Judy (John) Riley of Bethany; four grandchildren, Roseann Esposito, Joseph Esparo, Kimberly Marcarelli & Michelle Roffman; 6 great grandchildren, Jason & Mark Esposito, Nicholas & Gabriella Marcarelli, Luke & Lilianna Esparo. He was predeceased by two brothers, Salvatore & Leonard Liguori. Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Monday from 4 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Mother Church, 1700 Litchfield Tpke, Woodbridge Tuesday morning at 10:00.
