Robert A. Burns

BURNS, ROBERT A. "SKIP" Skip Burns, age 73, of West Haven passed away on December 18, 2012. Beloved husband of Caryll Miller Burns. Born in New Haven, son of the late Elmer and Mae Lynch Burns. Besides his wife of 48 years, he is survived by his loving children, Caryll-Ellen "Cebi" (Gregory) Waterfield, Marleen (Kelly) Cullen, and Robert A. (Kirsten) Burns Jr., all of West Haven, his cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle, Meghan, and Riley, and his brother, Donald (Kathy) Burns of West Haven. Skip was a US Army Veteran, serving as a PFC for the 84th Engineering Battalion. He retired from the West Shore Fire Dept. in 1993. After a 30 year career, he retired at the rank of Deputy Chief/Fire Marshall. He was a member of City Point Yacht Club, Aimes Point Club, the WSFD Emerald Society, and a Volunteer for the WSFD. Above all else, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. The hours for visitation will be Friday from 3-8pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday morning at 9am for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence Church at 9:30. Interment will be private. Donations may be made in his memory to the West Shore Fire Dept. Benevolent Fund, 250 Benham Hill Rd, West Haven, CT. 06516.
