Samuel Frumer

FRUMER, SAMUEL Samuel Frumer, 87, husband of Sylvia Kreiger Frumer, passed away at home on March 1, 2014. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Lemberg Frumer. He was the devoted stepfather of Roseanne (Donald) Levine of Clinton, CT, Beth (Steven) Jacober of Potomac, MD; Steven (Hinda) Kreiger of North Kingstown, RI; Kenneth (Joan) Kreiger of Orange, CT; and Howard (Stefanie) Kreiger of Woodbridge, CT. He also leaves 17 grandchildren: Aaron, Jeremy (Emily), Robert (Diana), Rachel (Christopher), David, Benjamin, Matthew, Brenton, Noah, Alana, Dana, Jessica, Carly, and Daphne. In addition, there are cherished great-grandchildren Ryan, Brynn, Henry, and Daniella. Sam attended Norwich Free Academy and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1949. He received graduate and doctoral degrees from Indiana University in 1956. He was a Professor of Accounting at Indiana University for the next 40 years and retired in 1995. According to the university, “during Dr. Frumer’s time at Indiana, he accomplished a great deal, both professionally and personally. More than any other member of the Department of Accounting, he is the single person who has defined Indiana University best in the eyes of thousands of Alumni.” Funeral services were held Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, 543 George St., New Haven with interment services to follow at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Lades Place, Shelton. The period of mourning will be Sunday through Tuesday evenings.
