William McLauglin

McLAUGHLIN, WILLIAM JOHN William John McLaughlin, 73, of Uncasville, CT, previously of Clinton and Madison died on March 22, 2014 after a long, courageously fought, illness. Bill was born in New Haven, one of seven children of Thomas V. McLaughlin, M,D, and Mary E. Doherty McLaughlin, R.N.. He grew up in Hamden and attended the University of New Haven and Boston University. He served in the US Army Reserve. He was an apprentice typesetter at Wilson H. Lee Company. As a Journeyman with Typographical Union 47 he worked at The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Herald Examiner, The Honolulu Star Bulletin and The New Haven Register. He owned his own Printing Business for 20 years in Clinton, New Haven and Madison. In his later years, He worked at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville. Bill was a member of the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard and the Knights of St. Patrick. Bill excelled at crossword puzzles, Trivia, jeopardy and jokes to keep everyone happy and leave them laughing. Bill was always ready to lend a helping hand whether to repair a broken piece of furniture, a children’s wagon or assist with home improvements. He is survived by his son, John William (Laura) and his grandson, Malakai William. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter. He is survived by brothers Thomas (Marilyn), Joseph (Virginia), Paul (Hedy) and sisters Maryellen Smith and Justine Landa. He was Uncle Billie to numerous nieces and nephews of whom he was so very proud. Calling hours will be at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St in Clinton on March 26 from 5 PM to 7 PM with a Mass of Christian Burial on March 27 at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 54 Grove St, Clinton.
