Emmitt Dove

DOVE, EMMITT WESLEY Emmitt Wesley Dove of Branford died on Friday October 11, 2013 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. He was the cherished husband of Eleanor Sam Saulys. In addition he is survived by his daughter, Emily (Ryan) Haygood of Benbrook, Texas, his son Richard E. Dove also of Texas, and two grandchildren, Andrew Ryan Haygood and Ella Jane Haygood. His mother, Jennell Dove, and sister, Karen Dove, also survive him in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was predeceased by his father, Emmitt ‘Bud' Dove. He was born in Rogers, Arkansas, and lived in several states including Alaska before his college years. A 1972 Yale graduate, Emmitt continued residing in CT, first doing home restoration, and furniture design and manufacture. He then worked at Yale for several years in Facilities Management before joining Champion Paper where he designed, programmed and installed computer systems. He retired in 2011 and began doing the things he loved, devoting this brief retirement to spending time with his close friends, fishing, photographing birds at Hammonasset, and building a camper with which he planned to travel to our national parks. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements; a private gathering of friends and family was held this week.
