Barbara Greenberg Obituary
Barbara (Supowitz) Greenberg, 76, of Ridge Road, North Haven devoted wife of 53 years to Dr. Alvin Greenberg died on Thursday, November 9, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Arthur & Florence (Ginzberg) Supowitz. Beloved Mother of Lesli Greenberg of Atlanta, Glen Greenberg (Melissa) of Guilford, and Alison Kogan (Eric) of Westport. Dear Sister of Harry Supowitz(Patti) of New Haven. Cherished Grandmother of Jacob, Eli, Aidan, Zachary, Graydon and Maci.
Barbara was born in West Haven, Connecticut to Florence and Arthur Supowitz. She graduated from Hillhouse High School and attended both Quinnipiac College and the University of Connecticut. In 1964, she married her beloved and loving husband, Alvin. Together they had three children, Lesli, Glen and Alison. Nothing made her happier than being Nana to her six grandchildren. Barbara fought a long and courageous battle surrounded by family and friends over the last decade. She was a strong women who did not give up easily. She was a dedicatedwoman to her family and was deeply committed and passionate about her philanthropic work in the Jewish community. She was past president of Women's American ORT, was co-chair of the Women of Vision Society of the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven and was recognized nationally in Washington, DC for her work as a Lion of Judah of the Jewish Federation of North America.
Funeral Services at Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, 543 George St., New Haven on SUNDAY morning, Nov. 12 at 11:00 o'clock with Interment Services to follow at the B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, 200 Wintergreen Ave., New Haven. The family will begin to visit with friends and relatives at 10:00AMon Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Barbara Greenberg Philanthropic Fund of the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven, 360 Amity Rd., Woodbridge, CT. 06525. A Period of Mourning will be observed at 1180 Ridge Rd., North Haven on Sunday following the service until 4p.m., and on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (6p.m.-8p.m.).

Dear Al, Goldie and I have been away for a few months traveling overseas and just recently heard about the passing of Barbara a few months ago. Please accept our condolences and sympathy.

Glen, I just heard about the passing of your mom and am so very sorry for your loss. As you know she was a beautiful woman inside and out. I remember babysitting for your younger sister once and how sweet your mom was to me, as always whenever I saw her. My condolences to you and your family. Please know I am thinking of all of you.

I'll always remember the many years our families spent together sharing a condo at Okemo.You & Alvin had to have perfect conditions to go skiing. Not too cold, not too icy, not too windy & definately not too crowded! It was easier to stay warm inside with the NY Times, a good cigar & a football game on the TV with a warm fire blazing. After the lifts closed we piled into the Shapiros condo for hot salami hors d'oeuvres, another cigar,and great drinks flowing all around! What fun we had.
