Trevor Davis Obituary

Davis, Sr., Trevor H.
Trevor Henry Davis, Sr., age 91, passed on January 25, 2018 at his residence at Maplewood of Orange. Born on October 8, 1926 in Bridgeport, CT to Frederick Earle Davis and Elsie Maude Augusta (Fox) Davis, he graduated from Milford High School in 1944, starring as a three-sport athlete: football, basketball and baseball. Trevor proudly served in the Marines during WW II and has been involved with the American Legion for many years. Trevor married Betty Jane Nettleton on June 17, 1950 in Milford, CT. He graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Yale University in 1953 and then worked for U.S. Motors, Raybestos, Hamilton Standard and Harvey Hubbell. Trevor and Betty lived in Orange for 56 years.
Trevor was known for his sense of humor; however, he was serious when it came to donating blood. His eagerness to give life to others led him to give over 39 gallons of blood over his lifetime, becoming the number one donor in the state of CT.
Trevor sang in the Orange Congregational Church choir for decades. Another passion, golf, began at a young age as a caddy. He enjoyed the game for over 70 years, many at the Yale Golf Course and Orange Hills Country Club, where he worked during his retirement years. Trevor was a lifelong fan of Yale football, UCONN basketball and the New York Yankees.
More than anything, Trevor loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jane (Nettleton) Davis. He is also survived by his four children: Trevor Davis, Jr., Pamela (Roy) Hirth, Leslie (Jim) Dockendorff & Glenn (Jennifer) Davis. He was adored by 11 grandchildren: Christopher & John Dockendorff, Jessica (Chris) LoDolce, Jason, Michael & Nick Hirth, Joshua (Melissa) Davis, Matthew (Amy) Davis, Sarah (Kirk) Booth, Trevor III & Parker Davis. Trevor also leaves three great-granddaughters: Brielle, Alexa & Teagan Davis. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Fred Davis and sister Lillian Bleckel.
There will be a service celebrating his life on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Orange Congregational Church, 205 Meetinghouse Ln., Orange, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Orange Congregational Church Music Fund or the American Red Cross. The family has been compassionately cared for by the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. To leave online condolences, please visit our website at www.codywhitefuneralservice.com

I sang with Trevor in the OCC choir for several years in the early 1990's. We had similar odd senses of humor, which made rehearsals fun. Years later, I was donating blood, when in comes Trevor with an entourage. It seems that that day, Trevor had broken the record in Connecticut for most units donated - lifetime. I was only at about six gallons at that time, but he inspired me to continue to donate.
Trevor was a wonderful singing partner, a wonderful person, and I will cherish his memory and his challenge for blood donations.
I offer my condolences to Trevor's family and friends.

Our sincere condolences to my good friend Trevor Jr. Blessings to your mom and the rest of the family in this time of challenge. Some people stand out in life, and when you look at them you usually see who came before them.

May the Lord comfort you, and continue to bring love, peace and joy in the memories shared over a lifetime.
