CHIECHI, Dr. Joseph Dr. Joseph Chiechi, 42, of Wallingford, formerly of Branford, died Thursday, January 19, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant battle with lymphoma. He was the beloved husband of Susan Lattanzi Chiechi, and cherished father of Christian Joseph Chiechi and Erica Alexandra Chiechi. He received a B.A. from Fairfield University, a MSW from New York University and MA/PHD from Long Island University. He had been employed as a Clinical Psychologist at Connecticut Valley Hospital and maintained a private psychological practice in Wallingford. He enjoyed traveling, photography, and was an avid fan of all things Italian. He was also a New York Yankees, Jets, Rangers and Knicks fan. Joseph is survived by his siblings and their spouses, John and Pamela Chiechi of Guilford, Frank and Cristina Chiechi of New York City, and Erica and Miles Potts of Wallingford; his grandmother, Vincenza Chiechi of Flushing, NY; his mother-in-law, Gloria Lattanzi of Branford; his Godson-nephew and niece, Jonathan and Gabriella Chiechi; and many close friends and family. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Romolo Lattanzi; and his grandparents, Giuseppe Chiechi and Vito and Ersilia Carbonara. His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Monday, January 23, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. (Directly) in St. Mary Church, 731 Main St., Branford. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Chiechi Children's Fund, c/o The Wallingford Funeral Home. www.wallingfordfh.com

Sue: I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your dear husband. Unfortunately I did not find out until I saw the flowers at the gravesite. I know there are no words that can bring him back or make you feel better but if you should need anything please call me. As you know, I have some first hand knowledge of what you are experiencing. Dear Sue,

I would like to extend my sincere sympathy to you and your family over the loss of Joe. I had the pleasure of working with Joe for a short time when he interened at the Child Guidance Clinic in Meriden. Joe had the perfect mix of warmth and professionalism that left you feeling as if you had known him for years. You just knew he would go on to do great things. Everyone here remembers Joe with clarity, not only for the great work he did but also for the friend he became to all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I worked with Joe when he was a fellow at VA Connecticut. I was touched by his compassion, thoughtfulness, and positive energy. He was so excited about being a husband, and becoming a father; and was enthusiastic about his career as a psychologist. We will all miss our friend and colleague. My sincere sympathies to the entire Chiechi family on their loss - and hope that your wonderful memories of Joe can soften your grief.
