Albert Young Jr. Obituary
YOUNG, ALBERT DAVID JR. Following a recent illness, Albert David Young, Jr. of Madison, CT, passed away on August 23, 2O13. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Frazier Young of Madison; three children, Elaine Y. Giggi, New Canaan, CT, Margaret P. Young, Southfields, NY, and A. David Young lll, Audubon, PA; and step-children Donald L. Frazier, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and Dr. Shelley Frazier Pelletier, OId Saybrook, CT. He was predeceased in 2005 by his first wife, Lucella Young. Mr. Young is also survived by his brother, Vernon Young, Boxford, MA; his sister, Cheryl Guenther, Rochester, NY; and grandsons Ryan and Tyler Giggi, New Canaan, CT. Mr. Young was born in Boston, MA in December L927. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, NH; the U. S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, CT; and Akron University, Akron, OH. He was a Coast Guard aviator, and a veteran of World War ll and Korea. He retired with the rank of Captain, U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. ln civilian employment, he was employed by Exxon Corporation, and later as a consultant in environmental engineering with Mclaren-Hart Environmental Management Co., New York City. ln addition to consulting duties, he wrote three textbooks on petroleum storage tank technology for general industry use, as well as numerous articles on environmental technology for technical publications. He was a past member of the American Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Society of Lubrication Engineers, and past vice chairman of the Board of Directors, U.S. Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Madison, CT, the Madison Winter Club, the Madison Beach Club, and the Westbrook Elks. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Madison on September 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Gifts in his memory may be made to the Coast Guard Academy Class of 1949 Library Endowment, USCGA Alumni Association,4T Mohegan Avenue, New London, CT 06320. Arrangements are with The Hawley Lincoln Memorial, Guilford.
