Audrey E. Giannattasio

GIANNATTASIO, AUDREY E. Audrey E. Luzi Giannattasio, 79, of 520 Pool Road, North Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Orlando "Lanny" Giannattasio. Audrey was born in Montreal, Canada on January 27, 1934, daughter of the late Dario and Pauline Gluckmeyer Luzi. She came to this country settling in New Haven where she started working for the former Bilfred's Spa on Norton Street; little did she know that the owner would be the love of her life. They later married and together operated the Bilfred's Spa, which later became Lanny's Place, until their retirement. Audrey's first love was her family whom she loved unconditionally and enjoyed many holidays, especially the gathering of all on Christmas Eve when she cooked her fish fest. She was a member of the North Haven Senior Center, enjoyed playing cards with her many friends at her apartment complex and also enjoyed her frequent trips to the casino. Loving mother of Joan (John) Landino of Hamden, Rosemary (John) Raffone of North Haven, Lana (William) Burke of New Haven, Carolyn Smith of Madison, Paul (Donna) Giannattasio of North Haven and the late Roxanne Cerilli. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the Smilow Cancer Hospital 9th Floor MICU and the Masonicare Hospice for all the excellent comfort and care extended to Audrey. Predeceased by her son-in-law Walter Smith, Jr. Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday morning at 10:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church, North Haven at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm.
