Callachan, Barbara Harrison Barbara Harrison Callachan of Evergreen Woods, North Branford, formerly of Pine Orchard and Naples, Florida, wife of 57 years to the late John Ewing Callachan, died peacefully on February 21, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born in Branford, Connecticut on November 10, 1925, a daughter of the late Herbert and Pauline Harrison. She was a graduate of Branford High School and the University of Connecticut where she became a lifelong member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She was an administrative assistant to the chief of surgery at Yale School of Medicine, and was a substitute teacher in the Branford school system. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Branford. She was also a member of the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club. She cherished her family and friends, enjoyed donating her time and energy to her community, and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Drakos and her husband John and Cynthia Callachan Ewing all of Branford; a son, John Harrison Callachan and his wife Sue of North Branford; and six grandchildren, Robyn, Joe, and Alix Bornstein, and Katie, Laura, and Julie Callachan. She is also survived by her dear sister Anne, and brother-in-law, Bob Hadley, as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jeanette Townsend. The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Woods for their extraordinary compassion and care. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on March 9th at the First Congregational Church of Branford.
