Barbara Maxwell Obituary

MAXWELL, BARBARA Barbara Quinlan Maxwell, 86, wife of deceased Richard C. Maxwell, since 1947 of Madison, CT passed away on July 11, 2013 in Stuart, FL., with family by her side. Barbara was born February 19, 1927 in Meriden, CT to Herold and Della Quinlan, residing in Meriden, CT before settling in Madison, CT. She graduated from Prospect Hill School and Drexel University. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret's, as well as an active member at the Madison Beach Club. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished time spent with family and friends. She enjoyed playing tennis, sailing, Saturday night dances, going to the beach and of course, time spent with all her family. She is survived by three sons: Richard Maxwell and his wife Christina of Roanoke, VA; John Maxwell and his wife Sara Maxwell of Manset, ME; Manning Maxwell and his wife Sarah of Stuart, FL; Two sisters: Cathy McKinney and Dorothy Macdonald; two granddaughters: Mary and Ada Maxwell, and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am at St. Margaret's on Tues 8/6 in Madison followed by a reception at the Madison Beach Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may also be made to Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org or by phone: 1-800-272-3900. Sorry to hear about Barbara. I can still remember the times when Barbara and Dick and a few other fellow boaters would go down to the Thimbles for a picnic.
