ACOMPORA, CARL " POPS" Carl "Pops" Acompora, 55, of Oakville, died Saturday, July 6th, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was the husband of Susan (Hadley) Acompora. Carl was born in New Haven, December 11, 1957, son of the late Carl "Zeke" Acompora and Frances (Esposito) Acompora. He was raised in New Haven and had lived there most of his life before moving to Oakville seven years ago. He served with the Marines as a bomb and explosive detonation expert near the end of the Vietnam War, spending 10 months overseas. He was a welder for H.I. Stone and Son Inc. in Southbury. Carl was a member of the Oakville VFW Post 7330, American Legion Post 195, and the N.R.A. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, and fishing. Besides his wife of 21 years, he leaves his son, Carlo Acompora III of Oakville; his brother, Louis Acompora of Branford; two sisters, Anne and Margaret Acompora, both of New Haven; five nephews; two nieces; one aunt; one uncle; and many cousins.
