EDWARD T. BURNS OBITUARY Edward T. Burns, age 95 of 42 Strathmore Lane, Madison, Connecticut, formerly of Larchmont, New York died on December 27, 2013. He and his wife Amalia (Molly) Suarez Burns were married in November 1953 in New York City. Edward was born on December 21, 1918 in Albany, New York; the youngest of three sons of the late John F. Burns and Agnes Collins Burns; brothers Robert A. Burns and Donald F. Burns are deceased. Edward was a graduate of Vincentian Institute High School in Albany, New York; Mount St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, Maryland; and Columbia University Law School in New York City. He was a member of the bar of Connecticut and New York, practiced law in New York City for thirty-five years and continued private practice in semi-retirement after moving to Madison in 1986. Before entering private practice in New York, he was Senior Attorney for the National Broadcasting Company, served in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps and was an FBI Agent from 1942 to 1946. Edward was a communicant of Saint Margaret Church in Madison, having served as lector and minister of the Eucharist and was former president of the Parish Council. He was a member of the Madison Country Club, a director of the Madison Property Owner’s Association and former president of the Kensington Acres North Owner’s Association. Edward is survived by his wife Amalia, his daughter Maria B. Laughlin of Laurel, Maryland; his son Edward T. Burns, Jr., of Avon, Indiana, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Margaret Church in Madison at 11am on Saturday January 4, 2014. Friends may call at Swan Funeral Home in Madison on January 3, from 4 to 7.
