Edward Kosack Obituary
KOSACK, EDWARD W. Edward W. Kosack, 94, of East Haven, died April 21, 2014, in Yale–New Haven Hospital. He is the husband, of 69 years, to Helen Sawicki Kosack. Edward was born in New Haven, April 2, 1920, a son of the late Jacob and Cornelia Stabasewski Kozuch, was a WWII Navy veteran and proudly served aboard the USS Shangri-La in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a line and type operator for Wilson H. Lee, a member of the Holy Name Society and the American Legion Post 162. Edward enjoyed being a Little League coach, basketball coach and volunteered at the Hospital of St. Raphael for 15 years. An avid Red Sox and UConn Girls Basketball fan, he enjoyed dancing, working around the yard, traveling the world and senior day trips. He is the father of Donald (Roberta) Kosack of MA and the late Arlene Kosack. Grandfather of Rebecca (Timothy) Wigmore and Scott Kosack, and great-grandfather of Lia and Anna Wigmore, all of MA. Brother of the late Laura Jackowitz, Adeline Meshako, Walter Kozuch, John Kozuch and Chester Kosack. Funeral from the LUPINSKI FUNERAL HOME, INC., 821 State Street, Thursday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Stanislaus Church at 10. Burial with Military Honors in All Saints Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday morning from 8:15 to 9:15. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 9 Eld Street, New Haven, CT 06511; or Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405. Edward’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Peter Huvelle, who took excellent care of Ed throughout the years, and the competent medical staff in the ICU at Yale who gave him compassionate care until the end.
