ABBOTT, FLOYD F. Floyd F. Abbott of New Haven died peacefully March 26, 2013 at Masonicare in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine DeCrosta Abbott. Father of Linda A. Abbott of East Haven, Ronald F. (Bernadette) Abbott of New Haven and Jeffrey D. (Linda) Abbott of Hamden. Brother of Dorothy Antinarella of MA, Barbara Sisson of FL, Joan Winter of Bethany and the late Ruth Fernino, Harold Jr., Willis and Charles Robert Abbott. Grandfather of Ronald A. (Michelle) Abbott, Jennifer (Nicholas) Esposito, Matthew (Monica) Abbott and Amy Abbott, all of East Haven, Gina Abbott (Michael) Sussal of Cheshire, Michael (Lucy) Abbott of Old Saybrook, Andrew (Rybecca) Abbott of Wolcott, Christopher (Erica), David and Marc Mason all of Hamden. Also survived by 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a great grandson Elijah Sussal and his beloved companion Gloria Gaudet. Floyd was born in Derby, CT September 28, 1920 to the late Harold and Minna Lossin Abbott. He served his country with honor during WWII in the Army Air Corp 397th Bomb Group, 9th Airforce B-26 Martin Marauder and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. After being honorably discharged he began a career as a machinist and later as foreman at the Kerite Company. Floyd was a member of American Legion Post 150 in Hamden. His funeral will leave the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11 Wooster Pl., Thursday morning at 9:30 for a Blessing in St. Michael's Church at 10. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday (TODAY) from 5-8pm.
