HENDRICKSON, FRANKLYN G. Franklyn G. Hendrickson, 79, of Meriden, died after a lengthy and courageous battle with ILF, a pulmonary disease, on Thursday, May 3, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Caroline Corcoran Hendrickson. He was born in Meriden, July 27, 1932, a son of the late Franklin and Anna Hutchinson Hendrickson. He was schooled in Meriden and after graduating Meriden High School he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After serving four years, he also served four years in the Air Force Reserves. Franklyn was a State Trooper for a short time. He then became an apprentice in the Plumbers & Steam Fitters Union and went on to become a Journeyman in the Plumbers & Steam Fitters Union Local 21 and 777, having celebrated 60 years in 2010. During his years in the Union, he traveled to different parts of the country, working in the trade and was also the business agent for Local 21. Upon retirement, Frank was very active in the Local 777 Retiree Organization which he took great pride in having various events and keeping the guys in touch with each other. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Terryville, the Meriden Turner's Club and the A.O.H. Club of Meriden. He loved his wife of 53 years very much and was a devoted caregiver to her for the past three years. He loved camping and RVing with his family and traveling with his wife to numerous places, including: Ireland, Germany, Bermuda, Alaska, South Carolina and other parts of the country. His love for pets, wildlife, nature, music, his country and religion were his passions. The greatest love he had was for his wife and children and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife Caroline, he is survived by his sister, Carolyn Wright of Sebastian, FL, his three sons and their families: Andrew and Christine Hendrickson, children, A.J. and Anna; James and Cindy Hendrickson, children, Isaac, Jacob and Rachel; and Steven and Bonita Hendrickson, children, Gabrielle, Matthew, Josef and Megan. The Hendrickson family would like to thank the Alzheimer's Resource Center, especially the staff of Unit 2A for all of the loving care that they provided to Frank. His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Monday, May 7, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Joel Kotila of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, 1261 S. Main St., Plantsville, CT 06479.
