MELCHER, GEORGE George Melcher, 80, passed away on Saturday, February 23 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in West Haven. George was born in Stamford, CT on September 8, 1932. He was a long time resident of Branford. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a fireman for the Branford Fire Department for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 83 in Branford and was a former member of the Branford Elks Club. He lived life to the fullest. George was dedicated to being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife Eleanor Melcher, and his loving daughter, son in law, and granddaughter; Laurie and Joseph Guerrera and Stephanie Guerrera. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford. Friends may call prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:30. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Memorial donations may be made to the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, 950 Campbell Avenue, West Haven, CT 06516.
