DUNSMORE, GEORGIA M. On February 19th, Georgia M. Dunsmore of Guilford, CT, passed from this life with her family and friends at her bedside after a courageous nineteen year battle against breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of Joseph M. Dunsmore, III and loving mother of Megan (Corey) Garner of Lansdale, PA and Joseph M. IV of Branford. She was also the devoted sister of Marcie (John) Walsh of North Haven, CT. Georgia was born on October 22, 1950, to the late Arthur "Bud" and Margaret "Peggy" McLeod Mullen of Hamden, CT. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Elizabeth Seton College in Yonkers, NY. Georgia worked alongside her husband for over thirty years at Dunsmore & Associates in Guilford. She lived in Guilford for nearly forty years and was involved in the community with both parent teacher and youth sports organizations. Georgia helped many who battled cancer. She spent hours speaking and encouraging them in their own struggles with the disease. She was a beacon of hope and encouragement to many. Georgia's family would especially like to thank Dr. Michael DiGiovanna for his role in providing her with so many extra years to share, smile and laugh. In addition, her family is eternally grateful to Michelle Cappiello and the entire staff of Smilow Cancer Hospital for their kindness to Georgia. One of Georgia's special gifts was her ability to communicate either by phone or email with others. She kept everyone apprized about family, updates on her health or to share a joke. Her cousins referred to her as "The Switchboard" and she loved that nickname. Georgia was animal lover for all her life. Most recently she enjoyed her four cats; Otis, Olivia, Ollie and Oprah. One of Georgia's wishes was to thank her entire family and all her friends for their love and support throughout her long illness. Finally, her last wish was to become an angel, so that she could fly to heaven and watch over all of us. Now, Georgia will be that "Angel" for eternity. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10am. Burial will follow Mass in St. George Cemetery, Hubbard Rd, Guilford. Friends may call Friday, Feb 22 from 4 - 8 pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Dunsmore's memory may be made to The Breast Center of Smilow Cancer Hospital, PO 7611, New Haven, CT 06519-0611 or Forgotten Felines, P.O.
