WARFIELD, JOHN HENRY John Henry Warfield, 91, of Hamden, entered into rest eternal on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. He was the beloved husband of sixty two years to the late Hattie Hardy Warfield. John was born in New Haven on January 22, 1923, a son of the late Harrison and Cora Lee Warfield. He had resided in New Haven for most of his life, and had lived in Hamden since 1978. He attended and received his diploma from New Haven Public Schools, and was very fond of sports, especially baseball and basketball. For many years he worked for the former Frank X. Hald Moving Co. of New Haven, the former Maliber Iron Co. of Branford, and retired with fifteen years of service from Yale University. John was a proud WWII Army Veteran. Throughout his life, John was a kind, loving, caring, and giving person to everyone who knew him, and he attended Ebenezer Chapel of New Haven faithfully. John leaves to cherish his memory a daughter Cecelia “Bunny” Morgan and her husband Vern, five grandchildren, Ronald (Martha) Greenlee, Keith Morgan, Don Greenlee, Todd (Anissa) Morgan, and Velma Greenlee, a daughter in law, Pearl Greenlee, a sister Helen Holland, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Robert Douglas Greenlee, two brothers, James and Harrison Warfield, a sister, Coretta McClure, and two grandsons, Raymond Greenlee and Christopher Barrows. John’s family wishes to extend to Wallingford Hospice Homecare a very special thank you for the loving care, kindness and support they bestowed upon John. John’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Chapel, 50 Dwight St., New Haven with funeral services beginning at 11:00. Burial with military honors will follow in Hamden Plains Cemetery, Hamden.
