JOSEPH CIVITELLO Obituary
CIVITELLO, JOSEPH Joseph Civitello, 93, of West Haven passed away peacefully with his family by his side Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Watrous Nursing Center in Madison. He was the husband of the late Florence Boudreau Civitello. Father of Lori (Frank) Crotta of West Haven and Noel (Kathy) Civitello of Guilford. Brother of Stella DeAngelo of Shelton, John Civitillo of West Haven and the late Mary Petrucci, Julia Raucci, Annette Rose, Victoria Onofrio and Simon Civitello. Also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was born in Hamden, September 6, 1920, son of the late John and Anna Zullo Civitillo. He served in the 3rd Army, 2nd Calvary during WWII and fought in the Battle of Normandy and Utah Beach and was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star. For 39 years he was a mason for Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #1 in New Haven, retiring in 1985. He was a lifetime member of West Haven Yacht Club, a member of both American Legion Post 0196 in Milford and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 07788 in Devon. Visitation will be Monday morning from 10:00 to noon at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
