James Joyce Obituary

Joyce, James J. James Joseph Joyce died on March 26, 2013 At The Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, CT at the age of 90. Born in Providence, August 11, 1922 to John and Margaret Joyce he went on to live his entire life in New England, first in Rhode Island, then Massachusetts and finally Madison, CT for more than 40 years. James graduated from Hope High School in Providence, RI and earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Bryant University in Smithfield, RI He was an accomplished baseball player, playing on many semi-professional teams, which led to a lifetime love of sports. His early working career saw him at United Wire Company in Cranston, RI as a mill and office manager. He later came to the Durable Wire Company in Branford, CT where he enjoyed a long and successful career producing wire products that early on were essential to the development of hand held calculators and now can be found in complex medical devices. In the later stages of his career he traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Mexico in support of his customers such as Black and Decker and Boston Scientific. He retired at the age of 75. James was the beloved husband for 64 years of Amy Jean Joyce. He is also survived by their three children, James Joyce, Jr. of Cumberland, RI, Dr. David Joyce of Arnold, MD and Dr. Donald Joyce of Jamestown, RI as well as eight grandchildren. His sister Alice Roy lives in East Providence, R.I. along with many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church in Madison, CT on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10 am followed by interment at West Cemetery.
