MAITLAND, JANINE CLAIRE Janine Claire Maitland, of New Haven, passed away Wednesday, April 16, at Connecticut Hospice. She was born to Aime and Marie (Vacher) Richard on April 17, 1946, in Pawtucket, RI. She is a graduate of St. Jean Baptiste High School. Janine was a homemaker, nursery school
, garden center manager and administrator. She was an accomplished painter and enjoyed reading, gardening and landscape design. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved cat Tiggy. She is survived by four daughters: Kelly (& Mark) Sikorski of Westport, CT; Carleen Maitland of Silver Spring, MD; Michelle Maitland (& Joshua Martin) of Niantic, CT; and Mary Beth (& Dave) Pettigrew of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She is survived by four grandchildren: Nicholas and Emma Sikorski, Zoe Friedman and Julia Pettigrew. She is also survived by two siblings, Elaine and Roger. A private memorial service will be held Friday, May 23, 10:30 am at the mausoleum of St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, New London, CT. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Gaylord Hospital Pulmonary Program, where Janine was lovingly treated, or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
