Jeanne Connolly Obituary

CONNOLLY, JEANNE BYRNE Jeanne Byrne Connolly, 94, formerly of Milford, died peacefully March 30, 2014, at The Village at Mariner’s Point, East Haven, after a long struggle with Alzheimers. Born in South Orange, New Jersey, on April 29, 1919, to the late Edward and Josephine Bradley Bryne, and raised and resided in Jersey City, New Jersey, until she married Edward W. Connolly, her husband of more than 64 years, and moved to Milford and together raised their four children. She was very active in her parish, St. Agnes, as part of the building committee, ladies guild and on the ladies bowling team for more than fifty years. Jeanne worked for the City of Milford Probate Court and later became and retired as Milford Assistant City Clerk. She also served as the recording secretary for the Board of Commissioners for the Milford Fire Dept. for many years. She was predeceased by her husband and siblings Lucile, Eleanor, Carol, Edward & Robert. Jeanne’s greatest joy came from her children and their spouses: Jeanne (Joseph) Faughnan and Carol (Michael) Schweitzer, all of West Haven; Meredith (Dr. Michael) Diamond of Grosse Pointe, MI; and Edward (Victoria) Connolly of North Branford. But the unconditional love she gave and received from her 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren made her the happiest as “Nanny:” Joseph, Brian, Sean, Michael, Timothy, Daniel, Anne, Samantha, Ryan, Matthew, Justin, Brendan, Jeffrey, Christopher, Mackenzie, Boland, Connor, Liam, Patrick, Colby, Olivia, Rylan, Parker and Emmet. She will be sadly missed by all but will be remembered for her tremendous love and devotion to her family. The family will be forever indebted to the staff at The Villages at Mariner’s Point for their care and devotion to Jeanne during her tenure there. Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven, Wednesday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Vianney Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call WEDNESDAY MORNING from 8:30 to 10:30. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067; or VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 199 Park Rd. Extension, Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762. Sign Jeanne’s guestbook online at www.portofuneralhomes.net
