John "Jack" Brogden Jr., MD

BROGDEN, JOHN MALCOLM, JR. MD John Malcolm Brogden Jr., “Jack,”MD, 84, most recently of North Branford and formerly a long time resident of Dromara Road in Guilford, died peacefully on April 7, 2014, with his family by his side. Jack was born on March 13, 1930, in Providence, R.I. to Malcolm and Charlotte Brogden. Jack was predeceased by his brother Kirk and is survived by a brother, Davis, of Newport R.I.; his wife of 54 years, Mary (Pepper); children Sally, John and Anne; as well as grandchildren Blair, Dylan and Kyle. Jack grew up in East Greenwich, R.I. and was a graduate of Moses Brown School, Brown University and Tufts School of Medicine. Jack grew up sailing and duck hunting on Narragansett Bay, loved being on the water and remained an avid sailor, duck hunter and retriever dog trainer. Jack served in the Navy and Marines, and after medical residency at Yale he was a practicing surgeon in Guilford for over 35 years. Jack is a former member of the Sachem’s Head Yacht Club, the Shoreline Retriever Club, the Guilford Sportsmen’s Association and the Branford Gun Club.
