John Ferrie Obituary

FERRIE, JOHN, M. John Michael Ferrie, 50 of 31 MacArthur Road, North Haven, formerly of West Haven died suddenly on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of twenty three years to Sandra Lauria Ferrie. John was born in New Haven on December 16, 1962, a son of the late Vincent A. and Anastasia Cassella Ferrie, Sr., and had resided in West Haven for most of his life before moving to North Haven seventeen years ago. He owned and operated Ferrie Asphalt Paving Company of West Haven for the past fifteen years, and had previously worked in the family paving business for an additional twenty years. John was a 1980 graduate of West Haven High School where he played baseball, and played CYO basketball for St. John Vianney Church. John is also survived by his son, Michael V. Ferrie of North Haven, three sisters, Virginia Vinyard of Chicago, IL, Elizabeth (Phillip) DePalma of Milford and Diane Yeager of Westminster, MD, three brothers, Benjamin (Carmelina) Ferrie of Woodbridge, and Vincent A. Ferrie, Jr. and David Ferrie of West Haven, his father in-law and mother in law Jimmy and Nancy Ierardi of Middletown, and brother-in-law, Michael Lauria of Coventry. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many nieces and nephews including his two beloved nieces, Brianna and Michaela Lauria of Wallingford. John's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Relatives and friends are invited to go directly to St. John Vianney Church, 300 Captain Thomas Blvd., West Haven on Friday for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven.
