FINELLI, JOSEPH R. SR. Joseph Ralph Finelli, Sr., 90, formerly of Mansfield Road, North Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Regency House, Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of 69 years, to Josephine Redenti Finelli. Joseph was born in New Haven on August 22, 1923; son of the late Giovanni and Maria Michele Cappelli Finelli; he served his country faithfully in the US Navy during WW II having received the American Area and Asiatic-Pacific Ribbons. Joseph was the owner and operator of the former Statewide Motors of North Haven for many years and a partner with Empire Car Wash of North Haven and the State Street Associates. He was a member of the Greater New Haven New Cars Dealers Association; the New Haven Lion’s Club and the Knights of Columbus-Father Donaher Council, North Haven. Loving father of Mary (Louis) Giangola, John Finelli and Joseph (Rosemary) Finelli. Beloved grandfather of Dina (Peter) Guarino, Louis and Christopher Giangola, John, Lindsay and Joseph Finelli, Michael (Amanda) Finelli. Great-Grandfather of Gabriella, Sofia and Peter Guarino, John Finelli, Jr., Skyler and Lilly Finelli, and Mackenzie Finelli whose due in August. Loving brother of Carmel Finelli, Gloria Callandrelli, John Finelli, Concetta Camera and the late Rose Damiati, Antoinette Travaglino and Mollie Pascale. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to all the nurses and staff of the Regency House for the excellent, loving care they provided to Joseph and their family. His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 10:30. Family and friends may call from 8:30 to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Barnabas Church at 11:00. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum.
