Joseph McKim Obituary
MCKIM, JOSEPH Joseph McKim, 66, of West Haven, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Advanced Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of New Haven. He was the husband of Jacqueline Thatcher McKim. Father of Abe McKim. Brother of Dr. Kim Davis, William J. & Thomas F. McKim. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and did three tours of duty in Vietnam. Joe was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, University of New Haven, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Gateway Community College where he received an Associate’s Degree as a Dietary Technician. He was an accomplished chef and was employed by several area restaurants. Before his retirement, he was the Dietetic Technician for the Jewish Home for the Aged. Joe was an active member of the First & Wesley United Methodist Church of West Haven, Annawon Lodge of West Haven, and a former member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 251 of Milford & Chapter 647 of West Haven. Joe’s family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Advanced Nursing for the loving care given to Joe during his illness. The hours for visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Annawon Lodge will conduct a Masonic Service at 7pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at the First & Wesley United Methodist Church. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
