LOUIS J. ROSA Obituary
ROSA, LOUIS JOHN Louis John Rosa, 86, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2014. Louis was a husband of 63 years to Olympia Caponera Rosa. He was a loving husband, father and friend. He was well loved by all who knew him. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful story teller. Louis was born on October 8, 1927 to Salvatore and Savina Rosa, who came to this country from Italy. He had a sister, Josephine Rosa Caponera, and grew up in the Highwood Section of Hamden. He told stories of the fun times he had growing up, and continued to meet with his childhood friends on Friday mornings for breakfast and laughs. He proudly served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, and had the opportunity to travel the world. He married his sweetheart Olympia in 1951, and had two children with her. They lived in a wonderful home in Hamden, where he loved to garden and woodwork. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends; Sundays and holidays were always filled with love and laughter. The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care that the Connecticut Hospice gave to Louis in his final days, as well as family members and friends who gave their support during this time. Louis was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Savina Rosa, a sister, Josephine Rosa Caponera, and a son, Stephen Rosa. Louis is survived by his wife, Olympia Rosa Caponera, a daughter, Cheryl Rosa Sullivan, and a grandson, Matthew Louis Sullivan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning July 16, 2014 in Blessed Sacrament Church 321 Circular Ave. Hamden. Family and friends are asked to go directly to Church. Interment in the Rosa family plot, St. Lawrence Cemetery with Military Honors. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Colonial Funerals.
