ABRAMS, LYNN WINIK Lynn Winik Abrams, a bright light to the world, died peacefully in her sleep on March 5, 2013 in Boca Raton, Florida at the age of 83 after a long bout with cancer. Born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, she attended Penn State University and lived for many years in New Haven, CT before moving to the Boston, MA suburbs and then to Coconut Creek, Florida. She had a successful career as a design consultant at Boston Interiors in Brookline and was a lifelong member and volunteer for Hadassah. A spirited, vivacious woman who enriched all those around her, she lived life to the fullest. She loved to travel, the game of tennis, the theater, her little chats with her grandchildren, canasta, bowling, her multitude of friends, good food, good books, and life's little pleasures. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years and best friend, Steve, her children, Gary Winik of Fort Lauderdale, Mark Winik of Branford, Connecticut, and Jay Winik of Chevy Chase, Maryland, her grandchildren, Matthew and Seth, and Nathaniel and Evan, and her daughters-in-law, Trish, Norma, and Lyric. Her first marriage was to the late Herbert Winik of Branford. Her son, Jay, is the renowned author and historian, Mark is a Connecticut State Marshal and Chairman of the Branford WPCA, and Gary is a successful entrepreneur and book broker. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hadassah. Shiva will be sat at the home of Mark and Norma Winik, 115 Highland Ave., Branford, CT, Sunday, March 10 and Monday, March 11 from 11 AM to 8 PM. Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held in Washington, D.C and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
