MARION DUFOURNY Obituary
DUFOURNY, MARION CAROLINE WAHLSTROM Marion Caroline Wahlstrom Dufourny died peacefully August 2, 2014. Marion, a longtime resident of North Branford, was born at home in East Haven January 8, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Wilgot and Hilma Wahlstrom. After graduating from Commercial High School in New Haven, she worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company. She married the late John Robert Dufourny, and moved to North Branford where they raised their children. Peter Dufourny (Jane) of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Caroline Mulligan of North Branford, CT, Paul Dufourny (Linda) of Candia, New Hampshire and David Dufourny of Middletown, CT. Marion worked for the New Haven Register as the North Branford town reporter for over 20 years. She was well respected by all she worked with, and was considered an honest and thorough reporter. Marion was a longtime member of the North Branford Congregational Church. She ran the North Branford branch of the town food bank from the time of its inception. She was a lifelong member of the Totoket Grange, and a faithful provider of meals for the Midnight Run. She video taped town meetings and produced many interesting documentaries for the North Branford Public Access Channel. She was also a gifted painter and knitter. She will be fondly remembered by the many people who loved her, especially her grandchildren Eric and Katrina Dufourny, Thea and Noah Mulligan and Dan Dufourny. A memorial service will be held 7 PM on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the North Branford Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the North Branford Congregational Church.
