MARTIN, MARY MARLENE Mary Marlene Martin, 68, died Jan. 3, 2014 at Connecticut Hospice of Alzheimer’s disease. The disease slowly eroded her powerful intellect but not her spirit. Marlene grew up in Amsterdam NY. She obtained degrees in anthropology and library science from U. of Binghamton, SUNY at Albany, and Southern Connecticut SU. She lived for several years in NYC working at the Museum of the American Indian and for over 35 years at Human Relations Area Files at Yale University. She was a prayerful member of St. Thomas More in New Haven. She loved her many pets, music, and art and made exquisite quilts. Marlene is survived by her husband Douglas Black of New Haven, her brother Stanley J. Martin, sister-in-law Kay Martin, former sister-in-law Susan Martin Meggs, niece Josie Martin Semel, and nephew Jerome Martin. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Martin, mother Veronica Martin, and father Stanley M. Martin. A funeral Mass and reception will be at St. Thomas More, 268 Park St., Sat. Jan. 18 at 11 am.
