Mary Battista Obituary

BATTISTA, MARY ANNE McCARTHY Mary Anne McCarthy Battista passed on to her final reward in Heaven on Monday, May 20, 2013. She was born on July 13, 1931 in New Haven. Mary Anne leaves her daughter, Maudeen Dinan and her husband Kevin of Hamden and granddaughter, Karen Dinan of Wallingford. She also leaves her sister, Patricia (Edward) Smith of West Haven, and her brother William E. (Karen) McCarthy of Portland. She also leaves, and will be remembered by, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Anne was the daughter of the late William E. and Marion (Brenan) McCarthy. Mary Anne was predeceased by her husband, Walter A. Battista and her son, Robbi. Mary Anne was a graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven. She and her husband moved to Englewood, FL, in 1989. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Englewood. In her church, she worked tirelessly in a variety of capacities and most recently as Minister of Consolation. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and sister. All who knew her will remember her as a loving, caring and compassionate person and friend who did much for so many. Mary Anne loved all animals, both domestic and wild, and was known to feed many of them. Like St. Francis of Assisi, she would easily be known as St. Frances of Englewood. She was a wonderful person who will be sorely missed.

Mary Anne was one of those special people that God places on this earth. When Mary Anne and Walter lived in CT she became one of the joys in my life and I know how blessed I am for knowing her.

Mary Anne and Walter were the best neighbors. I selfishly wished they could have remained longer in Connecticut. They were so very missed when they headed south. I pray they are reunited for eternity. God bless their loving family.
