Mary Lou Iovene Obituary
IOVENE, MARY LOU HUZAR “MOO” Mary Lou ”Moo” Huzar Iovene, 67, of Branford, CT and Dorset, VT, passed away suddenly at her Dorset home on March 19, 2014. A lifelong Branford resident, Mary Lou is survived by Bill, her devoted husband of 36 years. She also leaves three sisters, Betty Peterson, Barbara Shockley, and Beverly Laurello. Mary Lou is also survived by her daughter Lisa Howes and her husband Chris; her grandchildren, Sophia and Abigail; her nephews, Scott Iovene, Dean, Darren and Dana Peterson, Chris Laurello; her nieces Julie Cutler, Kim Lecza, Leslie Florio, Vanessa Grinold; ten grandnieces and grandnephews; as well as her beloved dogs Rupert and Piper. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a master’s degree in Special Education, Mary Lou taught in Stamford, CT for 36 years. Her many interests included yoga, the outdoors, learning new things and volunteering with the Special Olympics. She was a wonderful host and a welcoming, warm and generous person. Famous for her “Moo-isms,” Mary Lou will be greatly missed. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and may attend a Mass of Christian Burial Monday morning at 10:00 in St. Mary Church, Branford. Burial will be private.
