Mary DeCicco Moniello Obituary
Moniello, Mary DeCicco Mary Moniello, 83, of East Haven, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Connecticut Hospice. She was born in New Haven, CT on December 30, 1929 to the late Michael and Eleanor Vivenzio DeCicco. She was the Owner and Chef at Mom's Restaurant for many years. Cooking was her passion and she was famous for her meatballs, as well as some other popular dishes that she served with love at her restaurant. She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church, as well as a member of their Ladies Guild and was active with the East Haven Seniors. Mary also enjoyed sports and music. She is survived by 2 sons; John Moniello of Guilford, Robert (Nancy) Moniello of East Haven, a daughter, Laurie (Michael) Sommo, also of East Haven and two sisters; Olga Penna of Hamden and Inez Gagliardi of East Haven. She also leaves 5 grandchildren Alisa, Christopher, Sondra, Rachael, and Allison and 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister Claire "Dolly" Sabino and 4 brothers Teddy, Leo, Gene, and Angelo DeCicco. Funeral will leave the EAST HAVEN MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 425 Main St., Thursday morning at 10:30 for a Funeral Mass in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 11 o'clock. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405, or the East Haven Food Pantry, 39 River St., East Haven, CT 06512.
