Colomonico, Michael F., Sr. Michael F. Colomonico, Sr., 95 of 292 Thorpe Avenue, Meriden, formerly of Hamden died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Connecticut Baptist Home of Meriden. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose Zaccarino Colomonico. Michael was born in Hamden on April 4, 1917, a son of the late Vincent "Jimmy" and Mary Leone Colomonico, and had resided in Hamden for most of his life. He had resided in Meriden for the past seventeen years. He was a general foreman of the maintenance department at the former Winchester Repeating Arms/Olin Corp. of New Haven for forty years until his retirement, and was a proud WWII Army Veteran. Michael is survived by his son Michael Colomonico, Jr. and his wife Linda Mazur of Southington, three sisters, Julie Elkin and Rose Kay of Hamden, and Pat Baltaxa of New Haven, one brother Joseph Colomonico of North Haven, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Sally Elliott and a brother Nick Colomonico. "I didn't get old on purpose. It just happened. If you're lucky it could happen to you." Michael's family will receive relatives and friends at the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, everyone is invited to go directly to Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden for a graveside service with military honors at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions in Michael's name may be sent to Connecticut Baptist Home, 292 Thorpe Ave., Meriden, CT 06450. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
