Michael Guadano Obituary
GUADANO, MICHAEL Michael Guadano, 91, died on March 11, 2013. He was the beloved husband for 51 years to the late Nancy (Abato) Guadano. He was born on June 18, 1921 in New Haven, CT and served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He earned his BA and MA at the University of Connecticut, an MA at Harvard University and PhD at the University of Connecticut. In Connecticut, he taught French and Spanish at the High School and Community College levels and served as head of the Language Department at Manchester High School. He had also served as Director of Foreign Languages at Braintree High School in Massachusetts. He was able to pursue his lifelong love of fishing in New Hampshire, where he built a cottage on a lake. He also enjoyed skiing, golfing and fishing at a family vacation home in Vermont which he helped build. During retirement, he perfected his chess and pool playing and traveled to Spain, Italy and the West Coast. He is survived by three children, Susan Gessay and her husband John of South Yarmouth, Arthur Guadano and his wife Andrea of Durham, NH., and Michael Guadano and his wife Tracy of Sedro Wooley, WA. He also leaves seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and his dear friend, Bridget Donovan. He was predeceased by his daughter Sandra Guadano and brothers, Arthur and Robert Guadano. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, beginning at 9:30am at the Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Dr., So. Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am at Saint Pius X, Church Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Burial with Military Honors will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery.
