CONNELL, NORMAN K., (RET LT. BPD) Norman K. Connell, 85, of Branford, passed away at his home on Thursday Feb. 27, 2014. He was born May 25, 1928 in Lebanon, New Hampshire to Timothy J. Connell and Antionette Daigle . He attended Hillhouse High School, and served in the United States Navy. He joined the Branford Police Department in 1952 and went on to proudly serve the Town of Branford for 41 years. He reached the position of lieutenant. He enjoyed many years working on the police boat. Upon his retirement he traveled across the country with his wife, Mary Ellen. He was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox, and had season tickets for the New Haven Nighthawks and New Haven Ravens. Norm spent some of his best time enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ellen. He is survived by his brothers, Timothy Connell of North Haven and James Connell of Branford, his children Kevin Connell( Ellen) of Guilford, Kathy Dingus ( Bob) of Branford, Patrick Connell of Branford, Mary Killebrew ( Tony)of Texas, Tim Connell( Donna) of Branford, Tom Connell( Diane) of Chester and nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 – 8 PM, and are invited to a funeral service Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Branford Police Benevolent Association, c/o Branford Police Department Laurel Street, Branford, CT 06405.
