Norman was a great neighbor always there to offer his experience and help. Which I might add was priceless to a new homeowner. I remember his help on many occasions but one inparticular, we were restoring my 65 Dodge Dart and Norman helped us get it to the garage he drove behind me and my husband drove infront of me very early one morning. We wanted to put in a larger oil pump in and spent every waking hour of our 3 day Easter weekend unsucessfuly trying to get it in there. (My boss said it had to be out for business Monday morning!) We were reading an old chrysler manual that said to wedge a 2X4 inbetween the oil pan and frame and you could slip it in. Not a chance! I thought this darn oil pump was going to be the end of our marriage! Then on Sunday afternoon Norman came by the garage and said I thought you'd be home by now what else are you doing. We told him our delema and he looked and helped with the pry bar and pushed and shoved with us and agreed yep it's not going in there. He said where did you read it was going to fit? We showed him the mopar book on the bench and he read it and said I know why it won't go in, you don't have a real 2x4! Back then it WAS 2" x 4" not that 2x4. I'll go home and make you one. He came back with a 2 inch by 4 inch 2x4 and the new larger oil pump went in with no trouble and we all drove it home! There are many such stories but that one was one of my favorites. I know that if I say that all of us on Lakeview will deeply miss him he touched all of our lives.
May God Bless You Norman.
