Richard Robison Knight Obituary
KNIGHT, RICHARD R. Richard Robison Knight, 62, Orange, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, May 23, 2013. Richard was born in New Haven, CT on January 9, 1951 to Myrtle (Roby) Knight, and the late Robert A. Knight. Richard was a graduate of Amity High School in Woodbridge, and the University of New Haven. Always an adventurous spirit, Richard spent a period in an Israeli kibbutz, followed by his travels across Southern Europe. After returning to America, he began his more than 25 year career in the entertainment industry by becoming a cruise director for the Caribbean Cruise Lines. From there he appeared in the major comedy clubs across the country, from Maine to California, with a standing invitation to appear anytime at Hollywood's iconic "Improv" comedy club, and "The Comedy Store." On his return to Connecticut, Richard founded "Knight Productions," and continued to appear at comedy clubs and corporate functions while he also produced several documentaries. He directed interviews for Steven Speilberg's "Shoah," produced and edited "Around the World in the Concorde," and, most notably, documented the "Special Olympics World Games," held in New Haven. Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Yoshiko, his mother, Myrtle (Roby) Raymond, and his brothers James Knight and William Atherton (Knight). An invitation-only viewing will take place at Cody-White funeral Home in Milford, followed by his private interment in Orange on Saturday. Afterward, all friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service in Richard's honor at the Orange Congregational Church, 205 Meetinghouse Lane on the green in Orange, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the same location. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to SGI-USA at 7E 15th St., New York, NY 10211-0456. Arrangements are being handled by the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.
