Sigismund Malicki

MALICKI, SIGISMUND W. Sigismund W. Malicki, 86, a resident of North Branford for over 48 years, beloved husband of Elizabeth Wehner Malicki, loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, died Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Gladeview Healthcare Center in Old Saybrook. He was born in New Haven, April 16, 1927, a son of the late Joseph and Branislawa Nawicka Malicki. A Sargent in the U.S. Army, Sigismund served honorably during the Korean War. After military service he was a self-employed commercial fisherman for 25 years, and later, a self-employed welder for over 30 years, retiring a few years ago. Besides his devoted wife Elizabeth, he is survived by his children, David (Debra) Malicki, of Hamden, Evaun Malicki Boatman, of North Branford; four grandsons, Garrett, Dwight, Aaron, and Benjamin Boatman, all of North Branford; three step-grandsons, Daniel, Jeffrey, and Jonathan Zaleski, all of Woodbridge; two brothers, Victor (Elsie) Malicki, of Madison, Michael Malicki, of Hamden, and Thaddeus Malicki, of Florida; three sisters, Josephine Osimo, of Wallingford, and Cecelia H. Malicki and Mary E. Malicki, both of Hamden. He was predeceased by two brothers, John S. and Frank B. Malicki. The funeral service, with Military Honors, will be from the Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road, North Branford, Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private. Friends and family may call at the funeral home, Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 8:00.
