CARIGLIO, THOMAS JOSEPH SR. Thomas Joseph Cariglio, Sr. of New Haven died peacefully July 6, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. He was the loving and devoted husband of 59 years to Ruth Colonnese Cariglio. Loving father of Joanne Cariglio Prete and Thomas (Andrea) Cariglio, Jr. Brother of Dolores (Joseph) Lynch and the late Gustav Cariglio, Sr. Loving grandfather of Kathryn, Rebecca and Meredith Prete, Tyler Withycombe, Michael and Alyssa Cariglio and great grandfather of Jane Elizabeth Seigle. Uncle of Gustav (Lynn) Cariglio, Jr. and Pasquale (Marianne) Cariglio. Thomas was born in New Haven, March 11, 1926, to the late Pasquale and Caterina Panzero Cariglio. He served his country with honor in the Pacific Theater with the US Navy during WWII. After being honorably discharged, he received his Associates Degree in Business from Quinnipiac College. He then began a career that spanned 26 years as an agent with the John Hancock Insurance Co. He received recognition for outstanding life insurance sales on many occasions. Tom retired in 1987 so he could be the primary caregiver for Ruth. He was an avid sports fan and lifetime fan of the New York Yankees. He enjoyed watching UCONN Basketball and New England Patriots Football. His funeral will leave the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11 Wooster Pl., Thursday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernadette Church at 10. Burial with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-7:30pm.
