PORTYRATA, Therese S. Therese S. Portyrata, 85, of Wallingford, formerly of North Haven for many years, loving wife of the late Raymond E. Portyrata, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Masonicare in Wallingford. Born in Mahnattan, June 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Murphy Sweeney. Therese had been an active communicant of St. Mary Church in New Haven. She leaves her very dear friend, Joseph Delucia, of Wallingford, and was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Sweeney, Jr. The funeral will be from the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, Friday morning at 9:15. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church, Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven at 10:00. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the Mass from 8:30 to 9:30. Gifts in Therese's memory may be directed to St. Mary Church, 5 Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511. I have fond memories of time spent with Therese, often over a fine meal. Therese was a very generous lady with a caring heart. She will be sorely missed.
