Vera H. Anderson

ANDERSON, VERA H. Vera H. Anderson, 95, of Hamden passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 14, 2013. Vera was born in West Haven on June 14, 1918, to the late Leopold and Johanna Miller Hoffstadt and Florence Coffey Hoffstadt. Wife of the late William J. Anderson, she is survived by children, Elizabeth (Wilson) Harris of Killingworth, William (Linda) Anderson of Hamden, Sharon (George) Hotchkiss of Katy, TX, Craig (Shirley) Anderson of San Diego, CA, Janet (Daniel) Dumont of Durham, Lucille (William) Sebastian of Wallingford, Peter Anderson of Lincolnville, ME, Ellen Westlund of Killingworth, Elaine (Steven) Malzone of Pawcatuck and Clifford Anderson of New Haven. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Leslie, Milton, Burton, Wilbur and Rollin Hoffstadt. One of her great loves was camping with her family; her last camping trip was a family reunion attended by over 200 family members and friends this past fourth of July week. Vera had been active in the Dunbar United Church of Christ and volunteered with the American Red Cross Disaster Relief. She was also active in the Hamden Healthcare community. The family would like to thank the staff of Hamden Healthcare for their exceptional care. Friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Dunbar United Church of Christ. Burial will be private, Arrangements under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN.
