Vincent Fumiatti Obituary
Fumiatti, Vincent (Retired NHPD) Vincent "Skippy" Fumiatti, 74, of West Haven, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 21, 2013. Born on May 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Serafino and Bruna Ticozzi Fumiatti. He was the devoted husband of Marguerite Chapman Fumiatti for 52 years. He is survived by son Michael Fumiatti (Dawn) of Madison, daughter Debra Fumiatti Powers (Dennis) of West Haven, daughter-in-law Stacey Fumiatti of West Haven and is predeceased by son, New Haven Police Officer Robert V. Fumiatti. He is also survived by his ten cherished grandchildren: Michael II, Jessica, Olivia and Lucas Fumiatti. Jillian, Bianca and Paul Studdard and Madelyn, Caitlin and Vincent Fumiatti. Vincent served in the United States Navy from 1957-1959. He entered the New Haven Police Academy in 1964 and worked as an Officer and a Detective during his 28 years of service. He also was a member of the NHPD Pistol and SWAT Teams and the Fire Investigations Unit. He was very proud of his profession and was always very grateful to have served the City of New Haven. Vincent retired from the NHPD in 1992.He later worked as a Judicial Marshal for the State of Connecticut and as an employee at the Yale Golf Course, until his retirement in 2011. A member of the Knights of Columbus and the Orange Hills Golf Course, Vincent loved spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, crabbing, his television shows and sitting outside in his front yard talking to his neighbors. The hours for visitation will take place THURSDAY from 3 to 8 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. On Friday morning his procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church at 11 o'clock. Interment will follow in Orange Center Cemetery.
