CARRANO, ALPHONSE J. Entered into rest on April 22, 2013, Alphonse J. Carrano, 96, husband of Carmel Falcigno Carrano of North Haven; father of Anthony P. of North Haven, Robert L. (Janet) of Killingworth, & David A. (Lynne Austin) Carrano of Wallingford; brother of Terrie (Frank) DePino of Branford, Peggie Giorcelli & Andrew (Linda) Carrano of Orange, & the late Michelina, Mary, Antoinette, Sue, & Dr. Salvatore Carrano, Camille Esposito & Vivian Salperto; grandfather of Brett & Kaitlyn Carrano, also survived by nieces & nephews. Born in New Haven on February 21, 1917, son of the late Anthony & Coletta Pinto Carrano, he served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II & prior to retirement was a shirtcutter for Brewster's/Gant & a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years. He was a longtime member of the former Nutmeg A.C. The family would like to give special thanks to the Doctors & Nurses at Y-NH Hospital-St. Raphael Campus & to the staff at Montowese Health Care for their compassion in caring for Alphonse. Funeral from MARESCA & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 592 CHAPEL ST., Friday at 10:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese Church at 11:00 am. Burial with military honors in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
