Hilde Weisse

WEISSE, HILDE Hilde Weisse, 87, a longtime Northford and former Hamden resident. passed away in her sleep Tuesday Jan 10, 2012. A memorial was held at Billings Farm, followed by a reception at the Woodstock Senior Center where friends and family gathered to see Hilde's photographs showing her gardens, bird feeders, and family. Hilde was raised in Berlin, immigrating to Niagara Falls, then Connecticut. She worked in real estate in Connecticut and later retired to Vermont, working most recently at the historical Billings Farm Museum. An avid skier, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, feeding her birds, photography and traveled widely in the Montshire Mycological Club hunting mushrooms. She often joined the German Club's lunches at the Senior Center. She is survived by her sister Dita; her two sons: Herbert and his wife Carrie; Michael and his wife Nancy, and her four grandchildren: Kyle, Ryan, Matthew, and Leigh. She was predeceased by her former husband Dr. Guenter Weisse retired from Olin Matheson.
