FERDINAND, LAWRENCE ANTHONY Our Lord called for Lawrence "Larry" Anthony Ferdinand, 87, of New Haven on Dec. 9, 2012. He will be remembered most as the devoted, caring and loving husband of Evelyn Baumgart Ferdinand and wonderful father to his children Donna Prezant, Gary Ferdinand and Susan Dejlitko. He leaves behind his wife, Evelyn, daughter Donna, son Gary, son-in-law Lloyd Prezant, son-in-law John Dejlitko, a sister, Rosemarie Freeman, and a brother, Robert Ferdinand, both of Florida. Larry was predeceased by his daughter Susan, his baby sister, Maria, and his brother James Ferdinand, Jr. In addition, he leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, a niece, and many friends. Larry was born in New Haven, CT, on Nov. 25, 1925, son of the late James and Frances (Molinari) Ferdinand. He was a proud
World War II
. Larry worked at the former Yellow Cab Company of New Haven for more than 40 years. During his career at Yellow Cab, he was a driver and dispatcher who logged more than one million miles of driving. After retiring from Yellow Cab, he was a limousine driver for several years. Larry and his wife Evelyn were married 54 years. They traveled extensively throughout the Midwest and Western United States. Those trips brought so much joy and happiness to Larry and his family. He also loved watching the news and sports. He loved hockey, baseball and football, especially the New York Rangers, Yankees and Giants. Larry was a member of several organizations including the
Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks
of the United States of America (BPOE); The Virginia City Montana Elks Lodge #390; The Virginia City Montana Preservation Alliance (VCPA); St. Labre Indian School; Boys Town; and several animal organizations. The Ferdinand and Prezant families would like to thank everyone at Arden House and SolAmor Hospice for their care and compassion. Friends may call at MARESCA & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Chapel Street, Tuesday from 5 to 8pm and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM followed by Military Honors.
